For World Oceans Day, Ocean Space partners with Plastic Free Venice Lagoon for the biggest clean-up of plastic ever realised in Venice. Join the effort at Campo San Lorenzo from 9.30 – 12.00, or stop by until 17.00 to drop off the plastic you have collected, meet us and talk to us about the ocean, or simply visit the space. Refreshments and clean-up equipment will be offered in the Campo.
The ocean is our shared public responsibility, and plastic is one of the biggest threats to it. Ocean Space inspires awareness, participation, and solution-finding for the ocean’s most challenging issues, with an emphasis on research and action across multiple disciplines. To quote celebrated oceanographer Sylvia Earle who joined us for the opening of Ocean Space: “Oceans have given us so much for so long, it is time to return the favour”.
