Families

The Educational Department of Ocean Space offers educational activities, workshops, and more for families and children both during our current exhibitions and remotely during the closing period, to explore the relationship between art and science, collective action, and awareness of the importance of the oceans in everyday life and the for the conservation of the planet.

These projects offer significant and accessible opportunities to experiment, learn while having fun, and develop creative thinking to find solutions for the protection and conservation of the environment.

The activities are aimed at children between the ages of 1 and 12. Participation is free with reservations required. The activities are held in Italian with the possibility of linguistic mediation in English on request.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

Workshops Ocean Families

As part of the 2023 exhibition program "Thus waves come in pairs", curated by Barbara Casavecchia, the Ocean Space Education Department is organizing four discovery and play events in which children will learn about some hybrid inhabitants of the marine world. Starting from the theme of pairs that runs through both installations on display, each appointment will be introduced by a scientist from the CNR-ISMAR (the Institute of Marine Sciences of Venice) and will be followed by a workshop where the participants will be guided in the creation of an imaginary marine zoo by using different art techniques. This is an opportunity to learn through an innovative and fun approach.

Who will end up being the inhabitants of the Oceanarium?

The series of workshops with a unifying theme develops from May to September 2023, for children aged 3 to 12.

Animated Reading Ocean Books

As part of the 2023 exhibition program "Thus waves come in pairs", curated by Barbara Casavecchia, the Educational Department of Ocean Space is organizing a series of four animated, aquatically and poetically-themed readings for children. Each event will consist of a reading and a presentation of an illustrated or silent book, and then a experiential one. The third of these appointments will be included in the Veneto Legge event and will involve the participation of a biologist and an artist.

The series of readings develops over from May to September 2023 for children aged 6 to 10.
