WORKSHOP "On possible gardens"

Reservation is required at this link.

On Saturday October 1st TBA21–Academy's Ocean Space, in collaboration with TOCIA! Cucina e Comunità and the Municipality of Venice, Murano and Burano, invite you to Campo and Chiostro San Lorenzo to celebrate the end of the exhibition season together with a day dedicated to the lagoon, its produce, and the Venetian community.

Conviviality has always been central to our cultures, a ritual that brings us together every day. What can this shared practice tell us about the landscape we inhabit?

The event is part of the research program "Convivial Tables. At the cross between food and ecology" focused on the complex links between what we eat and its ecological impact, with particular attention to the effects on bodies of water. Organized at Ocean Space by TBA21–Academy in collaboration with Marco Bravetti (TOCIA! Cucina e Comunità), the first series of Convivial Tables in 2022 have grounded their enquires on the Venice Lagoon.

Over the course of the day on Saturday October 1st, permaculture workshops, book presentations, and meetings with local producers will take place in Campo and Chiostro San Lorenzo, all accompanied by gourmet cicchetti inspired by the themes addressed during the "Convivial Tables" program.

As the sun goes down, a special collaboration with COMBO will liven up the campo with a selection of music by DJ Aloe Vera.

  • 6.00pm | Introduction by Markus Reymann, Director of TBA21 – Academy and Ocean Space; Barbara Nardacchione, Ocean Space Public Program
  • 6.10pm | "Storie di cera" (Stories of wax), Presentation of the book "L’Arcipelago delle Api" by Chiara Spadaro, edizioni Wetlands, 2022. The author will be in conversation with Clara Zanardi (edizioni Wetlands) and Simone Carraro (artist).
  • 6.40pm | "Produttori in Campo!" (Producers in the field!) Meeting with Chiara Picardi (Orto degli Angeli), Gian Antonio Posocco (Vincolfondo Montaner di Sarmede), Federico Riccato (Ittico Sostenibile)
  • 7.30pm | "Bacarata Lagunare". Chefs Lorenzo Barbasetti di Prun (Prometheus_Open Food Lab), Marco Bravetti (TOCIA! Cucina and Comunità) and Giulia Busato (Tòcio) present cicchetti created for the evening inspired by the three themes inherent to the Lagoon previously explored through "Tavole Conviviali": Salinity, Toxicity, and Invasive Species. A tasting will follow.

As the sun goes down, a special collaboration with COMBO will liven up the square with a selection of music by DJ Aloe Vera.

During the day Chiara Spadaro's book "L’Arcipelago delle Api" and a selection of Wetlands editions will be available to purchase, along with other books on the lagoon, thanks to our friends at the Libreria Marco Polo who will be present in Campo San Lorenzo.

During the day, "The Soul Expanding Ocean # 3 and # 4" will be open to visitors as usual, with special evening opening times until 10pm.
