Reflections on the representation of coastal and marine territories, from the sixteenth century to today, through the historical cartographic heritage of the Institute of Adriatic Studies and the research of the Institute of Marine Sciences of the National Research Council. The comparison between ancient maps and current measurement technologies on the one hand documents the evolution of the coastlines and the growing interest in the evolution of the seabeds, and on the other, it documents the evolution of cartography itself as a technique of representation that can now portray elements that were previously unobservable.

Speakers: Fabio Trincardi, Director of the Department of Earth System Sciences and Technologies for the Environment at the National Research Council (CNR-DSSTTA), and Alessandro Ceregato, former researcher at the Institute of Marine Sciences of the National Research Council (CNR-ISMAR).
