Special opening

Ocean Space and the exhibition "Thus waves come in pairs" will be open until 10 pm.

On Thursday, August 10, on the occasion of San Lorenzo Night, artists Petrit Halilaj & Álvaro Urbano will repropose the activation of the installation "Lunar Ensemble for Uprising Seas" part of the exhibition "Thus waves come in pairs", in the form of "Concert for 7 sculptures and 7 musicians".

The performance is part of the larger program of the evening, organized in collaboration with Venezia-Murano-Burano Municipality, to celebrate summer, San Lorenzo complex, and the phenomenon of shooting stars and to remind us of the interconnection between sky and sea, moon and tides.

The exhibition "Thus waves come in pairs" will be open the entire evening until 10pm. Our team of cultural mediators will be available to provide insights and information about the current exhibition and the history of San Lorenzo Church.

To conclude the evening, we turn our gaze upwards to learn more about the phenomenon of shooting stars in the San Lorenzo Cloister with the Associazione Astrofili Veneziani.

Program

7-10pm, Ocean Space, San Lorenzo Church:

Special evening opening of the exhibition “Thus waves come in pairs" with installations by Simone Fattal and Petrit Halilaj & Álvaro Urbano.

7-8pm, Campo San Lorenzo:

Concert by Talking Frogs & Friends.

*In case of rain the concert will be held inside the church; entry until maximum capacity is reached.

8-10pm, Ocean Space, San Lorenzo Church:

"Concert for 7 sculptures and 7 musicians".

As part of the exhibition "Thus waves come in pairs", artists Petrit Halilaj and Álvaro Urbano present a new installation and performance titled "Lunar Ensemble for Uprising Seas". The work is an evolving ecosystem comprising over 40 silvery transformative creatures, perhaps learning to fly to escape predators and heating waters, or perhaps trying to start a new amphibious life, as our common ancestors did millions of years ago, by reacting to changes in the planetary climate. They have gills, fins, wings, bodies, and tails that resound when touched by musicians and activated by performers.

The performance will be repeated at regular intervals, with breaks between sessions. No booking required.

9:30-10:15pm, San Lorenzo Cloister:

Conference "The phenomenon of shooting stars" by the Venetian Astronomers Association.

*The conference will be held in Italian.
