Digital activities

Available on Ocean Archive, SoundCloud, Spotify, iTunes e Google Podcast.

The fourth episode of Nowtilus focuses on scientific research in the lagoon. Our first guest, Luigi Cavaleri, physical oceanographer at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ISMAR-CNR), will tell us about the natural evolution of the lagoon’s ecosystem, its relationship with the sea and tidal cycles, both ordinary and extraordinary. Fabiana Corami, biologist and researcher at the Institute of Polar Sciences (CNR-ISP) will introduce us to the theme of invisible micro-plastics that threaten our waters. She will also debunk some of the many false myths on the subject.

Researcher at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ISMAR) of the CNR in Venice, Cavaleri is involved in the dynamics and kinematics of sea waves, the study of long-term measurements from the ISMAR oceanographic platform off the coast of Venice, the development and implementation of models for wave motion prediction, the study of storm predictability and the preparation and publication of an atlas of wind and waves in the Mediterranean. In his studies he was able to combine modelling approaches with intense experimental activity.

Researcher at the Institute of Polar Sciences, (CNR-ISP), and Biologist with a PhD in Environmental Sciences. Corami has been working in environmental chemistry and other environmental issues for more than twenty years. She is currently working on microplastics, an important and multidisciplinary subject that also involves social and economic disciplines, considering the impact that plastic has on our lives. Author of scientific publications, she has participated in various international and national conferences on the environment. She has a deep interest in academic and multidisciplinary dissemination, is in the Leonardos group of Science Gallery Venice and collaborates with DVRI, the Venetian District of Research and Innovation.
